Rep Wentworth hosts House mental health task force in Clare County

Jason Wentworth, of Clare, a member of the task force and chair of the House Military and Veterans Affairs Committee. “Being in a rural community, the organizations here face unique challenges when it comes to providing mental health services. I’m glad my colleagues on the task force had an opportunity to hear about the shortage of professional care providers and the long distances people have to travel to receive care.”Panelists included Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski; Craig Derror, program director of Clare and Gladwin counties for the Community Mental Health for Central Michigan; Sydney Larson of AuSable Valley Community Mental Health; Amber James and Wendy Case with the Michigan Association of Art Therapy; Midland County Prosecutor J. Dee Brooks; and administrators with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. Members of the public were also invited to speak.The Harrison meeting was the last in a series that also included stops in Howell, Grand Rapids, Auburn Hills, Detroit, Lansing and Mackinaw City. The task force also toured facilities across the state, including the Livingston County Jail, Richard A.
